TENDER SPECIFICATIONS FOR XRD

1. X-ray Generator

Microprocessor controlled x-ray generator, including radiation enclosure with specifications:

Maximum output power   : 3.0 k, Maximum high voltage: 60 k, Maximum anode current: 60 mA Stability: Less than 0.01 % per 10% mains variation, Radiation safety: Less than 1 μ Sievert/h at 10 cm distance from the enclosure.

2. X-ray tube

X-ray tube should have ceramic insulation (manufactured by the XRD supplier). It should be of long fine focus type with Cu anode, 60 kV, 55mA, 2200W.  The x-ray tube should have electronic tube identification & also the facility to rotate line & point focus without disconnection and realignment.

3. Goniometer

Goniometer should be of vertical type (THETA-THETA) based on direct optical position sensors with independent drives for tube & detector, based on DC motors. Angular reproducibility: ± 0.0001 deg Slew speed: 12 deg. per sec. 2 theta range: -40 to +220 degree, Minimum step size: 0.0001 deg., Maximum step size : 1.27 degrees

Following stages should be supplied: Flat samples stage to hold flat rectangular sample holders and a multipurpose sample stage, which can accommodate large samples up to 1kg weight.

5. Optics

X-ray Diffractometer should be based on Pre-Fix optics concept where different optical geometries including primary, secondary & sample stages should be easily exchangeable without any need for alignment. Optics should include primary beta filter, programmable automatic divergence slits, and anti scatter slits. The programmable automatic slits should allow for both symmetrical as well as asymmetrical illumination of the sample.

6. Detector

FAST solid state detector should also be quoted. This fast detector should be based on Real Time Multiple Strip (RTMS) technology that has the capability of recording the diffractogram up to 100 times faster than conventional sealed gas detector but without any loss in analytical performance (sensitivity and resolution).

7. Electronics

Electronics controller should be able to monitor & control all diffractometer functions such as angles, counts, slits, generator, safety etc.

8. Computer:

Pentium IV processor with latest configuration to be supplied along with 17” flat monitor and printer.

9. Software

Software should have features: based on extensible Markup Language (XML), simultaneous data collection & analysis, peak search and search – match, profile fitting, elaborate pattern treatment such as data smoothing, background subtraction , alpha-2 stripping etc, ICDD PDF-2 database
