GSP’S
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND RESEARCH CAPABILITIES
GSP is capable of addressing
all geologic, sedimentologic, petrologic, mineralogic, paleontologic,
structural and tectonic problems, photo interpretation of data,
chemical analysis and exploratory cum assessment drilling for the
evaluation of mineral and groundwater resources with the help of
its expertise and the following facilities:
- Photogeologic and
photogrammetric surveying equipments.
- Geophysical Lab.
equipped with seismic refraction, gravity, magnetic, IP, SP, electromagnetic
and resistivity instruments.
- Chemical Labs. equipped
with conventional instrumental analysis.
- Petrologic-Mineralogic
laboratory equipped with X-ray diffractometer, visual spectroscope,
polarizing and ore microscopes and image analyzer.
- Palentologic-Stratigraphic
Labs equipped with vertebrate and invertebrate fossil processing
facilities.
- Coal Lab. for proximate
and ultimate coal analyses.
- Drilling Branch equipped
with 10 drilling rigs for diamond core drilling.
- Workshop for repair
and maintenance of vehicles and rigs.
- Rock, Mineral and
Paleontology Museums and Core Library.
- Library with a large
collection of technical books, journals, departmental and exchange
publications.
- National Geodata
centre.
- Publications Directorate
equipped with most modern printing facilities.
Geoscience Lab. is the main research arm of the GSP. It is one of
its own kind in the region and is equipped with the most modern
and sophisticated research equipments, such as: Electron Probe Micro-Analyzer,
XRD, XRF spectrometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers, UV
visible Spectrophotometers, DTA Analyzer, Image Analyzer, Spin Magnetometer,
Sample and Thin Section preparation equipment and analytical services.
Other specialist mineralogic
services include EPMA, fluid-inclusion microthermometry, multi-element
packages, mineral sand alluvial ore mineralogy, water and environmental
analyses, cartographic, documentation, data processing and other
related geoscientific facilities.
GSP offers its technical
services on commercial basis to undertake:

magnetic, resistivity, induced polarization, self potential seismic
and geophysical surveys.
