APPOINTMENT OF CONSULTANTS

Geological Mapping using Remote Sensing techniques and Geochemical Exploration

The Geological Survey of Pakistan has recently started Accelerated Geological Mapping and Geochemical Exploration of the selected outcrop areas of the country under a development scheme. The objectives of the scheme are to develop expertise in GSP in geological mapping on scale 1:50,000 using Remote Sensing Techniques and explore new minerals deposits through remote sensing techniques employing satellite images interpretations.

The overall objective of the study, to be undertaken through consultancy is to map the geology, its structural and tectonic domains of Pakistan using satellite imageries of different resolution. It will tackle geo-chemical exploration in prospecting areas in all the four provinces of the country. The studies involve selection of geochemical survey type based on geological environments, collection of samples (rock/chip/stream samples), preparation of geo-chemical anomaly maps for different elements using the latest software aiming at delineating the prospective areas.

The selected consultancy firm would be required to train group of geoscientists of GSP in all the four provinces in preparing geological maps on scale 1:50,000 of selected areas, employing aforementioned mapping/mineral exploration techniques. The project will cover geological mapping of 48,000 sq. km area in a time span of four years. The geochemical exploration will be carried out in the most economically potential zones of the country covering an area of 18,000 sq. km. The final product of the project is the form of maps both in digital and hard copies, that will be useable and meet the requirements for the engineers in planning towns, roads, high-tension power lines, bridges, tunnels and dams etc and for geoscientists and hydro-geologists.

The proposals/schemes covering all the above aspects are invited from interested consultancy firms for the aforementioned technical activities of project to achieve the objectives of the scheme.

Profile exhibiting verifiable relevant experience of undertaking geological mapping using remote sensing techniques and Geochemical mineral exploration projects during the past 10 years. It is desirable to include relevant project details already accomplished including scope and extent of services performed.

The payment will be made in Pak. Rupee.
